I think this might be related to this issue π LDAP User save account causes performance decrease Postponed
If the user is saved every time they login, the user will be synced each time.
The password is being set every time the user logs in. I mapped Pwd: User only to [unicodePwd] and it synchronizes On LDAP Entry Creation and On Synch to LDAP Entry. That's the only way I could get the password update to work from either way (from LDAP or from within Drupal).
The problem is that every time the user authenticates, it synchronizes the password, which sets the password in LDAP and resets the password expiration. This effectively eliminates the password expiration date.
Is there a simple solution for this? It would be nice if 'On LDAP Entry Creation' was really 'On LDAP Entry Creation or Update'. For instance, there is a similar checkbox within "Basic Provisioning to Drupal Account Settings" labeled "Create or Synch to Drupal user anytime a Drupal user account is created or updated." That would be great for the mapping table as well.
