fast mouse over results in multiple overlays

this is my first time using this module so I'm not sure if my problem is isolated to me or a general problem with how the module works - - - or maybe a problem of my expectations.

I've built a view sorted and populated by nodequeue, with five slides and five "boxes" the slides that show fields from the same content type. Mousing over each box changes the slide to the related item and the overlay changes.

If I move the mouse between the "boxes" very quickly, for instance between box 2 and box 3, I can get the overlay to show a field from both content 2 and content 3.

I've played with the fade-in and fade-out delay times and some of this is resolved by setting a relatively high delay (>1000ms) but it continues to happen.

I've turned on css and js aggregation and installed advagg but it doesn't solve it completely.

Anyone have an idea for what else to try?
