Due to lack of activity of the maintainers last time, I have created sandbox and implemented a bunch of fixes, improvements and features. Here is a list of changes, introduced in the sandbox:
I have some more ideas how we can improve this module, but I think current state of sandbox has the must-have changes, so it would be helpful to commit them into this module.
I can give access to my sandbox for maintainer to commit changes in this repo (sandbox has the same git tree as this repo).
Also I'm interesting in further maintenance of this module, so you can add me into co-maintainers and I will commit changes by myself.

As this module has not been maintained for some time, I am closing this ticket as “outdated”. A new version of sites which is architecturally and technically unrelated to the Drupal 6 and Drupa 7 versions will be published here soon.
