Input form emptying when loosing focus

Some users of our platforms at epiqo, have reported that they find it weird, that autocomplete deluxe looses the entered not added yet value, when the input form looses the focus. I did that on purpose so that it matches choosens (which we use too) users experience, but on the other side it really makes only for choosen, where you can choose predefined values. So I'm having my doubts about this and I'm considering changing this behavour.
I've come up with 3 posibilities:

• Leave it as it is
  Matches choosen, but on the other side it really doesn't makes sense for autocomple deluxe.
• The value should stay but not added to the list.
  This is currently my favourite option. But on the other hand it could be weird, when users submit the form and they didn't enter their last term wasn't submitted, becase they didn't add it with [enter] or anything else.
• The term should be added on blur.
  I think users should confirm, that they want to add a term, this would be bad for the user experience.
  

What are your experiences with autocomplete deluxe, what would you suggest?
