after logout, user gets https site

Just looking for some advice here.

I have three sites under one drupal multisite install. Additionally, I have 5 drupal servers sitting behind a Varnish proxy, with SSL terminations handled by Pound (which then routes through varnish)

So, on all 3 sites ssl works and securepages works. Some pages are secured, some are not, and the system seems to bounce back and forth between them fine.

I noticed, however, that when I click on the logout link in the toolbar from a secured page, it would redirect me to the front page, but keep https, which would then load the site without a lot of the resources so I would get an unstyled, broken page. This only happened on 2 of my three sites, 1 site worked fine.

So, looking to see what was different, I noticed that one site had cacheing for anonymous users turned OFF, and this was the site that worked.

Sure enough, turning off anonymous page caching on the other sites made them work as well, so it is a cacheing issue.

Of course, I need to have anonymous page cacheing turned ON, so I'm looking for a work-around here.

Has anyone experienced this problem and do you have any advice on getting this to work?

thanks,
Cliff
