I was updating File Entity module in pursuit of a solution to another problem, and noticed this. File fields with custom permission settings failed access checks once file_entity was updated to 7.x-2.0-alpha2
They were working fine prior to this change. One was a field set in a panel display as Editable. Another was a content type in a view, where the file field was not one of the fields listed, but the node was hidden from all users except user1. Setting the file field permissions back to Public made the node appear in the table again. I have not had time to pursue this, but wanted to report the conflict between
