Get alias of path

I understand that currently custom breadcrumbs for paths distinguishes path node/1 and alias-for-node-1. But is it really complicated to implement function call drupal_get_path_alias() and make life easier for all of us?

Why should we supposed to make two custom breadcrumbs for same node? What if we decide to change alias? It's really difficult to track all changes.
