Loosing reference when translating

Entity connect works great if you stay within the referenced node entry form, but as soon as you leave it, for example when translating the entity, any reference to the parent node is lost. Rather than providing the bundle reference as a query string parameter it would be great to store it into the cache and reset it once the user is back to the parent node.

I tried to achieve this behavior with the attached module. Please let me know what you think and if something similar could be integrated into entityconnect.
