I think this would be cool, but it's understandable that there's not a lot of interest in terms of comments.
As a follow-up on #1445224: Add new HTML5 FAPI element: color → we might want to add RGBA support to the color input type, even though nothing like that is in the HTML5 spec yet, simply because there are some places in core, where that would be helpful.
