Configuration
In many cases (if not most) Ultimate Cron will work out-of-the box. However, on some installations it might be necessary to configure Background Process through settings.php in order for Ultimate Cron to work.
Please refer the the Background Process documentation.
Please spell out known cases where "out of the box" wouldn't work and the advice about implementing some Background Process configuration in settings.php would be necessary.

I'm closing this since Drupal 7 is now unsupported and there will be no more development on the Drupal 7 branch of Ultimate Cron either.
Thank you for taking the time and effort in reporting this issue, even though it never got resolved.
