How can users dismiss Nice Menus drop-downs using iPad?

How can users dismiss Nice Menus drop-downs using iPad? I have a single-parent drop-down menu (a "shortcuts" menu) using Nice Menus. When a visitor on an iPad visits the website, they can invoke the drop-down menu by touching the parent, but then the drop-down menu never goes away, even if they touch someplace else on the page. It seems the only way to dismiss the menu is to make a selection in the menu, thereby going to a new page, and then go back to the previous page. ...or just reload the page. Tablet/touch users should be able to dismiss the drop-down menu. Ideally this would happen by touching the parent again. What solutions are available to me? (My stakeholders see this as a serious flaw that should not happen on a professionally designed website.) Please advise. - TheSasquatch
