When updating an order, I can see that there is room to add in the Update log message and I know that there is an issue already dealing with the display of these.
I think that there is room to do one of two things:
1) Add in an additional textarea that will be sent to the customer as part of the email that gets sent (as set by Rules) when the order is updated
2) Add in a checkbox that specifies whether or not the log message is sent to the customer or whether it remains as only viewable by store admins
I feel that this would be a good way of conveying order information to customers along the lines of delays, tracking numbers, etc.
