Works on any background color. Arrows highlight from solid-framed triangles with transparent center (thus assumes page/container background) to wire-framed triangles with the green gel center (thus the innerds of the wire frame assume page background). Prev/Next arrows are smaller (smaller than default "greenarrows" prev/next arrows) chevron-style and match the green-gel style.
Opacity was turned up to .40 in the green-gel-highwire.css stylesheet (rest state)
Opacity was turned up to .90 in the green-gel-highwire.css stylesheet (hover state)
Drop into /sites/all/modules/galleryformatter/gallerystyles and you are all set
* Be sure to choose "Green-gel-highwire" style for galleries in Structure --> Content Types --> [Your content type] --> Manage Display
