Given that the indicator is integrated with the toolbar and the future navigation menu, I don't think there's anything to hide anymore.
would be nice to have a "yes, I already know" button/link to hide the indicator per session. maybe not hide, but remove the text and leave a thick line.
if I find the time I can support this feature request.
