I suspect that node access control can slow down dramatically a site (let say by a factor of 10).
Would it be caused by the number of users, the number of groups, the number of public pages into groups, the number or private page posted to groups, or the total number of node of the website (or the age of the captain?)?
If I would know about these issues, I could take some action, at the moment, the only thing I can do is a comparative test without og, (or switch to another framework as drupal). I admit I have zero knowledge on profiling tools for Drupal apart from the devel module total time and db time. At the moment, I consider a big web design error having used og_access.
Your help would be very welcome.
