PB Import Module Overview

The PB Import module provides a powerful and flexible way to manage and import content in your Drupal site, particularly for handling paragraphs and nodes. When you install the module, it adds a menu link under "Content" named "PB Import," which includes two main links:

Paragraph List: View and manage all paragraphs in the system. You can filter by paragraph type and perform actions like edit or delete.
Register Files: This form allows you to register files that have been uploaded to your site's files directory via SFTP or other methods, making them recognizable by Drupal.

What Does "Register Files" Mean?

Drupal stores files in the sites/[site-name]/files/... directory. If you upload files using a module like IMCE, Drupal automatically recognizes them. However, if you upload files directly via SFTP to sites/[site-name]/files/..., you need to register these files with Drupal. The "Register Files" button helps you achieve this.

Submodules Inside PB Import

The PB Import module includes two submodules: PB Import Node and PB Import Para.

PB Import Node

The PB Import Node submodule simplifies the import and management of content nodes. With features like CSV file validation, node creation, and error logging, administrators can streamline bulk content operations. When you enable this submodule, a new link appears under Content > PB Import > Import Nodes. This takes you to a form with the following fields:

Upload CSV File: Read more about the CSV file format here.
Image Folder: Enter the relative path to the image folder inside files, e.g., gallery/austin (it will be sites/[site]/files/gallery/austin).
Content Type Machine Name: Pre-filled with pb_import_node but can be modified if needed.
Vocabulary Name: Pre-filled with pb_import_node but can be modified if needed.

Content Type Created: PB Import Node with fields (Title, Tags, Image, Body).

Vocabulary Created: PB Import Node

CSV File Mapping:

csv_image_url: Image in PB Import Node content type.
csv_node_title: Title for the node.
csv_image_alt: Alt text for the image.
csv_image_title: Title for the image.
csv_node_tag: Tags (multiple terms separated by "|").
csv_node_body: Body field content.

Purpose: This content type is used for creating content like tabs, accordion, or slideshow.

PB Import Para

The PB Import Para submodule supports creating and managing different paragraph types from CSV files. It ensures a smooth workflow for importing complex content structures. When you enable this submodule, a new link appears under Content > PB Import > Import Paragraphs. This takes you to a form with the following fields:

Paragraph Type: Select the type of paragraph to import (Slideshow, Accordion, or Tabs). This list is disabled by default until you install the respective Paragraphs Bundles modules.
CSV File: Upload your CSV file.
Image Folder: Enter the relative path to the image folder inside files, e.g., gallery/austin (it will be sites/[site]/files/gallery/austin).
Parent Title: The title for the main paragraph bundle (e.g., Slide, Accordion, Tabs).

Content Type Created: PB Import Node with fields (Title, Paragraph Reference).

Vocabulary Created: PB Import Para

Paragraph Bundle Created: target_bundle with fields (Tag, Image, Body). This bundle does not have a title as it uses the section title.

CSV File Mapping:

csv_image_url: Image field in target bundle.
csv_image_alt: Alt text for the image field.
csv_image_title: Title for the image field.
csv_target_title: Content for the field (Slideshow Section Title) inside the paragraph bundle (Slideshow Section).
csv_target_tag: Tags (multiple terms separated by "|").
csv_target_body: Body field content (can include HTML).

Process

1. One parent bundle is created from slideshow_bundle, which has a paragraph field named "Slideshow Section".

2. Inside "Slideshow Section", a paragraph bundle named "Slideshow Section" is inserted, which has fields "Slideshow Section Body" (paragraph field) and "Slideshow Section Title" (text field).

3. Inside "Slideshow Section Body", the final paragraph bundle named "Target" is inserted, which includes fields Tag, Image, and Body.

Important: The row must have either body or image content. Rows without either will be skipped.

Final Note: After creating paragraphs, they remain orphaned (not inserted inside any node). To use them, go to PB Import Para, add content, and reference the newly imported paragraph.

Installation

Download and extract the PB Import module into your Drupal installation's modules directory.

Enable the module and its submodules through the Drupal admin interface or using Drush: drush en pb_import pb_import_node pb_import_paragraphs -y

Configuration

Navigate to Content >> PB Import. You will have four links::

To list/edit/delete: /admin/content/paragraphs/paragraphs-list
To register new uploaded files: /admin/content/paragraphs/register-uploaded-files
To import paragraphs: /admin/content/paragraphs/pb-import-para
To import nodes: /admin/content/paragraphs/pb-import-node

Upload the appropriate CSV file and specify the required settings.

Submit the form to start the import process.

Usage

Node Import: Upload a CSV file with fields like image URL, node title, image alt text, image title, node tags, and node body. Specify the image folder, content type, and vocabulary name to create nodes based on the CSV data.

Paragraph Import: Upload a CSV file with fields like image URL, image alt text, image title, target title, target tag, and target body. Specify the image folder, parent title, and paragraph type to create and manage paragraphs based on the CSV data.
