This project implements Mercado Pago Checkout Pro Payment Gateway for Drupal Commerce.

Mercado Pago Payment
The oldest module, from June 2012 with latest update in October 2016. There is no release for Drupal 8. Somebody started an issue to port it to Drupal 8 in March 2019 here: https://www.drupal.org/project/mercado_pago_payment/issues/3038392
And even though in June 2023 Shermany posted he had a working version for Drupal ^9.3 || ^10, at the moment there is no release to download in his custom module: https://www.drupal.org/project/cmpp

There are a couple more modules created but also with no releases, for example:

So around February 2023 it made sense to build a new version from scratch for Drupal 8|9 since there were no options available. After dedicating several hours in between projects and when this module was getting close to a release, another project for Mercado Pago was created a couple of months ago for Drupal 9: https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce_mercadopago

Once the development for this module was finished I gave it a try to check the code to have an idea of the differences between them, mainly to answer the question if a new module made sense or if the work done for this module should be dropped. After inspecting the code a bit I noticed it was based on Paypal, specially on the SmartPaymentButtons checkout, which takes a different aproach from this module.

I think the community benefits from having 2 modules to choose from and decide which one better fits their needs. The implementations are different and each one of them have interesting features and things that can de done better. After some time when the modules get to a stable release version, it probably would make sense to re-analyze if 2 modules should co-exist or they should join in a single one with more functionalities and more collaboration between them.

Post-Installation

Use the test mode to do some test first:

Create a test integration for CheckoutPro at Mercado Pago with a new test user account.
Copy the Public key and Access token and paste them on the test keys when creating a new Mercado Pago CheckoutPro (Offsite) Payment gateway.

That's it, you can start testing with Mercado Pago's payment on your site. When you feel comfortable with the module, switch to production keys and start receiving real payments.
