Changing "See map: " on map link

I have a template named "asc" with the both the theme folder and the .info file named respectively, "asc" as well.

I have tried to modify the function location_map_link to replace See Map with "Get Directions" instead by adding the entire function to my template.php file using asc_location_map_link.

For some reason, It's not being modified when I save or dump the cache.

What am I doing wrong? I've made functions before that have worked- but maybe I'm glancing over something small but imperative to getting it working......
