Problems after updating from 3.7 to 4.1

Version 3.7 was working fine for me. Tonight I noticed that 3.7 was not supported any more so I updated to version 4.1. First I updated in my local environment and did some testing and all seemed well.

I then upgraded on my webserver and there I'm experiencing some issues: on some nodes the printer icon shows up but not on others. Some content (stories) neither the icon nor the printer friendly link show up.

I have reviewed all settings and everything seems to be in place correctly. This same content behaves correctly on my localhost. I bet I am missing something obvious but I am stumped. Any thoughts?
