Adding AI to text format with CK Editor breaks editor

Created on 3 September 2025, 10 days ago

Problem/Motivation

I'm using Drupal 11.2.2. I have Amazee.ai set up as the AI provider. I've added them to every operation type that will allow it. I have enabled every AI submodule, including CK Editor. In text format/editors configuration, I have the default "Content" format which uses the AI "stars" in the active toolbar. There is a Basic Page with a description field. It uses CK Editor for editing, but when I add the "stars" to this text format, the CK Editor panels disappear and the text appears as raw html. When I remove the "stars", the CK Editor panel shows up again. Somehow adding AI to CK Editor deems the editor disfunctional.

Is this likely a provider issue?

Steps to reproduce (required for bugs, but not feature requests)

  • Drupal 11.2.2
  • Enable submodules needed by AI CK Editor
  • Configure Amazee.ai as provider for everything possible in the basic AI Settings
  • In Basic Page, make sure CK Editor is working for the description field
  • Go to the default "Content" text format in Configuration
  • Add the "stars" to the control panel and save
  • Go to Basic Page and see if the description field has a functioning CK Editor panel
