move importUrl(), related functions, and recursion handling into a common base class

Problem/Motivation

EntityReference is the processor plugin for reference fields, but other processors use it as a base class for some of its functionality -- in particular, importUrl() and recursion handling.

Proposed resolution

Improve DX by moving these into a common base class for referenced entities.
