Call to a member function addStatus() on null

I had to change the MR because the property is already there from the MessengerTrait, used by EntityListBuilder. But I repeated a mistake that I've made before: I should use $this->messenger() instead of just $this->messenger. Please have another look, so I keep the status NR.
