Image is being distorted in cropping window for only select images

Problem/Motivation

I'm on:
Drupal 10.5.1
Image Widget Crop 3.0.0
Gin 3.1.0 (8.x-3.1) - in case its the admin theme that is causing it?

I have a style defined for my "Crop preview image style" that is set to 1) Scale to 400px wide, and 2) Convert to Webp

When a user uploads a new images, on rare occasions, it will distort the image in the crop preview like below. It doesn't seem to be related to file size. Its only been on vertical images so far (larger height than width), but its not all vertical images. I tried switching to a different "Crop preview image style" and saw the same behavior.

Steps to reproduce

1) Add media item
2) Upload attached image
3) Open "Crop image". The image will appear distorted in the cropper
