About the Core's Style API proposal

Hello Justin, John & Seth,

We are currently proposing an addition to Core which has an intersection with the "CSS Class plugin, for attaching custom CSS classes to components" scope of Style Options: ✨ Add a style utility API Active

With an API containing:

• A 'Style" plugin definition with a YAML discovery
• A simple form element to pick a style's option
• A new render property to apply styles to renderable

After SDC in Drupal 10.1 (July 2023), and the Icon API in Drupal 11.1 (Dec 2025), it will be another design system API custom and contrib project would be able to leverage.
