Modernize PHP code

Problem/Motivation

3.x branch drops support of old Drupal version, hence the minimum required PHP version is bumped to 8.1, also Symfony dependency has been bumbed to 6.x.

The codebase could benefit from some simplifications like autowiring, constructor, promotion, etc.

The aim of this issue is to try to make the code a bit more modern and get it ready for the future versions of Drupal.
