Unable to use Description field for uploaded file

Great module but curious if anyone knows a workaround or fix to enable the Description field. My use case:

• Media document with file field, with "Enable Description field" checked
• The Description is used as the link text (see screenshot: with this module and without)
• Not just initial adding a file, but also changing a file and being able to edit the Description
• You can also see in the screenshot the filename is truncated with this module, way to turn that off?

Using on core 11.1.6.
