[Meta] Application "Shell" design refactor

Overview

In prep for launch, the application UI needs to be updated to make it more extensible. This means setting certain design paradigms to better allow us to easily add and expand the available buttons, making better use of space on the screen etc.

Proposed resolution

  1. Lock left and right panels to the sides of the screen so they no longer render "over" the canvas.
  2. Update the UI in the topbar
  3. Introduce side menu with an icon list to allow navigation around features of the application
  4. Move zoom controls to sit at top inside the new "frame"
  5. Left panel should be closeable
  6. right panel should be closeable
  7. Right panel should be re-sizeable
