Ah, I think I have found what I am after here: https://ecaguide.org/library/simple/route_test
So Closing now.
What is the recommended way to trigger a ECA to 'fire' when clicking on a link.
Consider the following scenario:
We are using the integration between the AI module → and ECA to re-write the contents of a field using an AI Automator.
This all works very well indeed but thus far, we can only trigger the AI Automator to kick in using one of the already-available EVA Events such as 'Entity save'.
Ideally, what we would want to do is to trigger its action when clicking a button labelled (say) 'Automate'.
Can we use ECA to react to a specific path (say) /node/[id]/automate
or something similar? If so then we could easily render such a button as a block attached the node view and all would be very simple indeed.
