Frontend Editing 1.8 & "Enable on/off toggle in UI"

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to admin/config/frontend-editing/ui-settings
2. Enable the option "Enable on/off toggle in UI"
3. Go to the front page
4. The frontend editing toggle is not visible and the user can't edit any paragraph

The user should see an item like on this screenshot (this is a screenshot from Open Intranet where this works ok)
