Token browser AJAX error

Created on 9 April 2025, about 1 month ago

Problem/Motivation

Whenever we go to use the Token browser from within the ECA BPMN.io page, we get the following error after a delay...

Digging into the Chrome Browser Inspector we see...

{
  "message": "\nAn AJAX HTTP error occurred.\nHTTP Result Code: 200\nDebugging information follows.\nPath: /token/tree?options=%7B%22token_types%22%3A%22all%22%7D&token=12A-Uf0Phj7GeQh7X0Da4sS-ISYoiMsvUBNDEk_LKfk\nStatusText: OK\nResponseText: ",
  "name": "AjaxError"
}

The Token browser seems fine in other places such as the Entity field management page etc.

    This is most likely not an ECA bug. There are thousands of users who use this every day, on no issue with token browser has ever been reported. So, there must be something in your Drupal installation that causes an error when building the token browser, which is btw provided by the token module. You need to look into your logs or use some debugging to find out what's causing this exception.

    Strangely, and timely, it has disappeared since the release of BPMN.io 2.08.

    There is a long delay (seconds) after AJAX throbber disappears and the Token browser pops open but it does so reliably now and we're back in business.

    Well, the bpmn_io update has not changed anything other than the URL of the save button. So something else must have changed on your Drupal site.
