CantoConnectorDialog submitForm fails with ajax error

Problem/Motivation

When attempting to add an image using the Canto Connector dialog, an ajax error is shown stating the following:

Drupal\\editor\\Ajax\\EditorDialogSave::__construct(): Argument #1 ($values) must be of type array, string given

Error reproduced in Drupal 10.3.11.
