7.x release for PHP 8.2+ support?

Problem/Motivation

In the 7.1.29 release, deprecation warnings are emitted when using PHP 8.2 and later. This problem is already fixed in the latest dev release.

Proposed resolution

Could a new 7.x-1.x release be tagged for Drupal 7 users?
