Symfony mailer twig template in custom module

We made a custom module that's using symfony mailer to send notifications to users.
We tried adding a custom twig template for the emails in the modules templates folder, but none of the files is being picked up.

After copying them to the theme they work. Although it would be nice for our developers and themers to be able to use a custom twig template in the module.

Is this possible?
