Can a taxonomy term be a dependee?

Problem/Motivation

I'd like to control a list field with a 'fruit name' taxonomy: when the 'fruit name' 'apple' term is checked, a 'fruit color' list 'red', 'pink', 'yellow', 'green' becomes visible.
If 'apple' is not checked, the 'fruit color' list remains invisible.
