This is not ECA, this is related to the bpmn_io module.
I don't think this will actually be implemented, though. The links between 2 objects in an BPMN model are either unconditional or conditional. But even unconditional is like a condition which is always true.
What could probably be done to address your issue, is to ask the maintainers of the bpmn.io library whether they can add an indicator to the link if that has a template applied to it. That would be something for the issue queue at https://github.com/bpmn-io/bpmn-js
Maybe it's just me that's bothered.
I'll write to a BPMN.IO developers, maybe.

This would have to be fixed upstream then. @tetatu would be nice if you could provide this link to the upstream issue so that others can follow that if they're interested.
