Interrupted nackground ajax requests are causing error messages

Problem/Motivation

When clicking on something in the browser while there is an ajax request for a ping back in the background, that ajax request gets interrupted and that causes a visible error message briefly in the frontend and another one in the browser console. The latter causes Cypress tests to fail.

Proposed resolution

Don't know yet.

Fixed by implementing the error callback in the ajax request and leaving that empty.
