Linking an image to a media file does not translate the URL

Problem/motivation

When you use the URL substitution on a media entity, the linking works fine when you are attempting to link text. It has been linking to the file URL as intended. But, if you add an image to the RTE and then attempt to link that image to a media entity, the URL does not convert. It will stay as "media/xxx". It would seem that the pre-processing of a link if it is not surrounding text is not working correctly.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Add an image to the RTE/CKE5
  2. Click on the image and select to add a link from it
  3. The link gets applied (visually still shows the media/xxx link, but that is how it shows on text linking as well)
  4. Save the node
  5. View the page, and the image will still be linked to the "media/xxx" value and not the file URL
This module uses Gitlab CI for automated testing of proposed code changes. To contribute code changes, create a merge request. Patch files will not trigger automated testing and are not sufficient for review.
