Drupal CMS launched but d.o offers no way to download

Created on 15 January 2025, 3 months ago

This is really an issue with the Drupal.org website, but I decided to raise it here. Given the fanfare that will be going around the web today, I decided to mark this "Major". It might just be these things are being sorted out now, but I felt I needed to raise it.

Problem/Motivation

Drupal CMS has launched, but there's no way to download Drupal CMS from the press release on d.o.
https://www.drupal.org/association/blog/drupal-launches-game-changing-cm... β†’

Steps to reproduce

See https://new.drupal.org/drupal-cms where there's a section like this:

Click on that highlighted link to https://new.drupal.org/drupal-cms/trial

I'd like to download it directly, so I click on the highlighted link to https://new.drupal.org/download and then toggle to Drupal CMS.

Clicking on that highlighted link takes me back to the first page referenced above. I'm now in a loop.

Proposed resolution

It looks like that final page ay https://new.drupal.org/download hasn't been updated to provide the Drupal CMS download link. It still says "Launches January 15."

  • Drupal CMS has been announced, but it is impossible to install it. Not through Composer, not manually. Probably, they forgot about Drupal because of the celebration)

The Drupal Association is well aware of and on top of this and is planning to update all links at the launch party in Boston, Massachusetts today, approximately noon, North American eastern time.

And it is entirely possible to install Drupal CMS's release branch: composer create-project drupal/cms:1.0.x-dev -s dev

For us Euro lot, it meant we were in a loop until the launch in the evening for us. Nice to see you launch it live though :)

"d.o" as in via the website if you'd come in via the press release. Was temporary and all resolved now of course.
