New field not catered for

Created on 13 January 2025, 3 months ago

Problem/Motivation

I have been using this module with great success and it's proved very useful.

However, today I noticed something odd.

I recently added a field to on of my content type and that field was called 'Question snapshot' with a machine name of 'field_snapshot'...

The idea is that over time, this new field will be replacing a previous field called 'Question snapshots' with a machine name of 'field_question_snapshots'.

When I visit...

https://bit-by-bit.org/admin/config/development/entity-copy-reference/config

The newly added field not not appear in the list of fields!
(The older one still does of course)

Am I misunderstanding things here, should the 'Next' screen be updating dynamically accordingly as I alter the content type field list?

At first I thought that I must simply be missing the new field but it's really not there!...

Thanks

    Hi module maintenance team,

Could you possible give some guidance/reaction here please.

I have checked and double-checked this and I pretty sure it's a major oversight.

For that reason I'm going to up the status.

    Thank you

    Hello @sirclickalot,

You are right when you say that the form should be dynamically updated.
I think the new field you created may be an image field directly rather than a reference to an image media, which is the type of fields that can be configured.
I believe an image belonging to an image field will be copied along with the rest of the content.

Would you please confirm this? And if possible more include information on the new field that is the issue here.

    Thank you

    Hi miguelpamferreira ,

Thank you for coming back to me.

Yes, you are quite correct, it is indeed a simple image field but I don't want it to be copied by default and I'm sure that other will probably want that kind of control too since, at the end of the day, while it's truly a reference field it 'kind of' is.

    Thanks
