Issue with view mode for search results

Created on 17 December 2024, 4 months ago

Problem/Motivation

For my search results, I want to show an excerpt that includes the search term in the content. Right now, it is only showing a preview of the actual page content (the title and body) but does not include the search term anywhere.
I can't figure out how to do this. I tried going to Format->Show->Settings and selecting Teaser and Search Result but neither of those options work.

Steps to reproduce

Go here: https://test.bostonmpo.org/search/content
Type in "Betsy"
The results are all pages with "Betsy" keyword but the search results do not show any excerpt with the keyword

Proposed resolution

Does anyone know a solution that does not involve coding? I am new to this module I used to use the standard search so this is very complex for me.

You can just add the “Search result excerpt” field to the view mode of your choice and then use that for displaying the search results.
You will also need to enable the “Highlight” processor for the search index and configure it to create an excerpt.
