Handle the Alt Text Gen AI features in the terms for Drupal CMS.

Created on 17 December 2024, 5 days ago

Problem/Motivation

Our Drupal CMS allows for sending data to a third party AI provider to look at an image and generate alt text from it. Whilst this is a single simple feature there will eventually be many features throughout Drupal that use AI directly in the form. As a result we don't want a different approach to privacy and consent for every feature and we need to be mindful of the UX and DX. (Whereas with the Chatbot, its so distinct from other AI features its ok if it has its own front-end approach to consent even if it integrates with the same Klaro system in the back-end.

After a discussion (I'm less certain on the specifics of this, so Nico or Jurgenhaas can you confirm. We need:

  • Provide information about AI in the general request for consent.
  • Have some automated way to tell the form the AI provider and region.
  • Handle what happens if the AI provider changes
  • Make sure there is a clear visionally distinct button for Generating with AI so a user knows its being used.
