Can confirm that the corresponding change fixes this problem in 3.x, so it probably works in 8.x-1.x too. But the usual route is to fix in the current branch first and then backport.

Well, in 3.x, the route has already been changed (to commerce_stock.stock_config, which does not exist in 8.x-1.x), so i changed the targeted version

Ah, OK, I first encountered the issue in 2.x (because I was using Commerce Migrate, which currently does not work with 3.x)
