The 2.x branch has no tests, and it does not have GitlabCI enabled.
The 7.x-1.x branch does already have some tests written which could also be enabled.
Add .gitlab-ci.yml to the 2.x and 7.x-1.x branches with appropriate settings.
As current testing core has moved onto Drupal 11, only the previous major can be tested for the 2.x branch.
