I have created a sitemap on my local system, and each page has 5 links, with a total of 10 pages.
http://localhost/d10/sitemap.xml
http://localhost/d10/sitemap.xml?page=1
http://localhost/d10/sitemap.xml?page=2
.
.
.
http://localhost/d10/sitemap.xml?page=10
When I access https://localhost/d10/sitemap.xml?page=11 or 12, it displays the default content (http://localhost/d10/sitemap.xml). Is there a way to display the page not found instead?

Why not open up a support request if unsure if this is a bug or not?
This is done by design and it's implemented here: \Drupal\simple_sitemap\Entity\SimpleSitemap::toString
Why would you like to have it display a 404?
