Nested paragraphs layout fields do not used the lpb widget.
Create a "tabs" paragraph type with a field referencing paragraphs called "items". Create another paragraph type "tab item" with a field referencing paragraphs called "content".
For both the fields "items" and "content" set the form widget to "layout paragraphs browser".
See that only "items" field is using lpb widget. The nested field "tab item" uses the regular layout paragraphs widget (despite the widegt is set to lpb)
