People and data sources will sometimes put in N/A, N.A., or something else meaning Not Applicable where we will want to store nothing— or where our validators will reject the text, and force the person to blank out the form field (or a few thousand cells in a spreadsheet) before it will be accepted.
Blank out the submitted value ourselves if it is obviously—literally—not applicable.
