Status Internal Page Cache module

Created on 20 September 2024, 4 months ago

Drupal.org recommends enabling the Internal Page Cache module on small and medium-sized sites when there is no proxy cache like Varnish or another external caching solution for anonymous users. In fact, if the module is enabled and a proxy cache exists, then there are two cache layers performing the same function.

The best solution is to have a Proxy Cache and enable the Internal Page Cache only if needed in the local environment for development.

It would be great if Xray Audit Insights could warn about cases where it would be appropriate to disable the Internal Page Cache or when there is no page caching system for anonymous users.

There are 4 possibles cases:

  • Internal Page Cache is enabled and Proxy Cache is not configured
  • Internal Page Cache is disabled and Proxy Cache is configured
  • Internal Page Cache is enabled and Proxy Cache is configured
  • Internal Page Cache is disabled and Proxy Cache is not configured
