PHP prior to 8.1 has reached EOL, and PHP 8.2 offers significantly improved performance.
There are two commits to 7.x-2.x with fixes for PHP 8.0 and 8.2 respectively:

Upgrade to PHP 8.2, the 7.x-2.x dev release works, but 7.x-2.1 does not
Please tag a release for 7.x-2.2 based on the latest 7.x-2.x-dev
