Preloads all images from Multivalue field

Problem/Motivation

For multivalue image fields, all images are preloaded regardless of the formatter's count limitations. I'm using the Field Formatter Range → module where you can set limits on the number of values loaded/displayed. But the RIP module still preloads all the images.

Is there an approach I'm missing? Or should this be a feature request?
