Error when in maintenance mode and trying to access a 404 url

Problem/Motivation

When site is in maintenance mode and user access a 404 page, it blows up with the following error:

Call to a member function getOption() on null in mercury_editor_preprocess_html() (line 328 of modules\contrib\mercury_editor\mercury_editor.module).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Set site in maintenance mode
  2. Try to access as anonymous user a 404 page eg: mysite.site/404

    I can confirm that we experienced this issue as well. We had a bad release on our host platform and during the time we were restoring sites this error was observed in our logs.
